Spanish indie rockers Hinds have returned to sold out St.Luke’s in Glasgow to introduce their newest album VIVA HINDS! The group has jumped many hurdles to reach the success they have today, losing two members during Covid, lead singers and best friend duo Ana and Carlotta have proved they are nowhere near done yet.
Aptly opening with the album’s introductory song, “Hi, How Are You”, the duo catch the audience up on their journey to emerging out of a creative rut. Next, the girls enter into some of their greatest hits including “Boom Boom Back”, and “Stranger”, featuring super stars Beck and Grain Chatten of Fontaines D.C. respectively.
Throughout the concert Ana and Carlotta show off their knack for showmanship, providing constant entertainment, getting into the crowd to party with their fans, playing guitar on eachothers shoulders and a surprise saxophone solo from a local fan who absolutely killed it! Most importantly, Ana and Carlotta took plenty of time to thank the audience for their support, sharing how a lively crowd like Glasgow’s reminds them of home while being far away from Madrid as they tour.
Showing off their punk-grunge vibe, the performance makes the audience think back to predecessors such as The Breeders, spreading carefree joy and showing off every bit of musical talent they have to offer. Overall, this was definitely one of the more entertaining live performances I have seen, Hinds absolutely ooze with love for their craft and their fans, I’m looking forward to when I can see them again!
