Avy Rose was born in the United States in Michigan but at the age of two she moved to France because her parents are French. She is 24 years old and has always shown a natural inclination towards music since childhood. Her love for music prevailed over the career in fashion she had embarked on at the Marangoni Institute in Paris, leading her to pursue a different and stimulating artistic path. Despite being an emerging artist, Avy Rose is making her mark in the music world with her original style, striving to merge two languages: French and English. Her voice highlights her character traits, such as originality and kindness.

First of all, in March you released Helpless. Congratulations! What does this song mean to you and how was working on it like?
Thank you! Well Helpless is my first song in French and English so it was a big step for me as I was always singing in English only. It helped me learn that those two languages together are beautiful and that I can mix my americain and french side in one song. That made me unique in a sense. Working on this song, like every song that I worked on, was super nice and super hard at the same time because of the lyrics. I’m good at singing the topline but the lyrics are tougher for me... I like to write a story so in 2 languages it can be tricky.
We read that your boyfriend, Sacha Couriol, is also your producer. How did you meet and how did you decide to start working together?
Well we met on social media and when he heard me singing he was like “we have to do something about it!” so we started there.
When and why did you decide to be a singer?
Honestly I never thought about becoming a singer before I met Sacha. I wanted to create my fashion brand but the idea of singing was actually better in my mind than having a fashion brand. I’ve been singing since I was a kid, so it has always been a part of myself.
How would you describe your genre and in which language do you prefer to sing?
I love to sing in English and in French. I also like Spanish, such a beautiful language. For the music genre I would describe my work as Baroque and Indie pop mix with Electronic.
Who are the artists who influenced you the most?
There are 3 : Lana Del Rey, for her vintage image and for the fact that she puts so little effect on her voice. The Weeknd for the complete and sometimes even orchestral instrumental. Billie Eilish for the sweetness and depth in her song.
How is your creative process and your approach to music when you have to record and write your own songs?
Well, first I have to be in a creative or good mood and most importantly I just go with what I have in my heart. I feel the instrumental and I sing whatever comes out of my mouth. For the lyrics I choose a topic that I want to talk about and write about the subject.
How would you describe the experience of being an emerging singer in France?
Well it’s not easy. In France they are into rap music more than pop I would say. So standing out is noti easy at all but I’m trying my best and I hope someday I’ll be recognized for what I do!
What are your future projects?
To continue to do what I do which means doing videos on my socials, sing in front of an audience, training my voice and in a few years I would like to live in London.
Do you have any suggestions for others who are developing their singing career just like you?
Do not give up. It will take time and maybe you’ll have to work a lot or differently than what you're used to but what matters the most is loving what you do and doing it with your heart. Embrace the journey.
Do you have a French song to suggest to our readers?
One song that I love is a classic of French music: Charles Aznavour, La bohème. Beautiful song and his voice is wonderful!
