The wait is over! The rising indie-rock singer Meg Elsier has officially released her debut album spittake. The singer had previously announced her upcoming North American Fall tour dates as the supporting act for Finom, with tickets still available here.
Born in New England and now based in Nashville, Meg Elsier has quickly emerged as one of the most exciting new voices in the indie-rock scene. Her unique sound blends sweet vocals and opulent melodies with grungy guitars and weighty production, creating a sonic lane that is all her own. Meg's music is a perfect mix of clever lyrics and catchy melodies, blending shoegaze and indie-rock to create a sound that's both fun and engaging.
The 11-track spittake album shows Meg's versatility as an artist, featuring previously released singles ifshitfuq, baby, iznotreal, forlyleinsanfrancisco, and oldnews, as well as new material that further consolidates her artistic range. The artist recently shared a remix of her latest single oldnewsremix featuring Coleman.X (Carson Cody x Joy in Missing Out remix), transforming the indie-rock anthem into a hyper-pop masterpiece.
In a statement about her debut album, Meg Elsier revealed that the creation of spittake was both exhilarating and intimidating. She notes that she built up to this moment by getting to know her collaborator Ryan McFadden's intentions and taste, and simply allowing their creative processes to align, explaining that she didn't fully understand what the album meant or what she wanted to create until it was complete, but she knew she was proud of the songs and wanted to share them with the world.
Ultimately, Meg states
"I know I wanted to record an album because I felt proud of these songs and I really was craving for people to hear them. What I really was searching for was an introduction as… meg. Not someone I’m mirroring, or someone I’ve been trying to become".
