Rapper Plies has decided to take Megan Thee Stallion, GloRilla, Cardi B and Soulja Boy to court over their track Wanna Be, released in 2024.

But what has happened exactly?

Plies accuses Megan Thee Stallion and GloRilla: “You used my song without permission”

According to legal documents filed in Los Angeles, Wanna Be allegedly contains an unauthorized sample of his 2008 track Me & My Goons. However, the situation is more complicated: Megan and GloRilla reportedly sampled Soulja Boy's Pretty Boy Swag legally, but Plies claims that track itself includes stolen elements from his original song.

The track, which debuted at No. 11 on the Billboard Hot 100, was later enriched with a remix featuring Cardi B. Despite its success, Plies seems determined not to let this slide, suing not only the artists involved but also the labels and companies behind the production.

The matter remains unsolved

As we wait to see how this story unfolds, one thing is certain: cases like these continue to show how fascinating yet legally tricky the music industry can be. For now, we’ll have to wait and see if Plies will achieve justice or if the matter will proceed without further complications.
