Tate McRae just released her new single It's ok I'm ok, offering a preview of the Canadian singer's upcoming album, who gained significant attention last year with her record Think Later, featuring the viral hits Greedy and Exes.

On this latest track, the 21-year-old comments on an ex's new relationship, warning his current partner that things aren’t as perfect as she might be led to believe:

And she be like, "He's so perfect"
I be like, "Oh, what version?"

However, she doesn’t really care, she has moved on and wants nothing to do with him anymore. She isn’t trying to steal this new girl’s boyfriend:

I don't want him anyway, girl, take him.

Along with the single, Tate has also released a music video that showcases her impressive dancing skills (prior to launching her singing career, she was a professional dancer) and features clear references to Britney Spears, especially during the part where she gets arrested which clearly reminds of Spears' I wanna go video. Additionally, on the red carpet of the 2024 VMAs, the singer wore a sheer black lace dress similar to the one Britney wore at the same event in 2001.

With an incredible video choreographed by Sean Bankhead (known for his work with Lil Nas X, Sam Smith, and Usher), a Y2K-inspired style, and a dynamic and vibrant aesthetic, Tate McRae is bringing back 2000s music vibes, placing her name, alongside Olivia Rodrigo and Billie Eilish, as one of the leading figures in 2020s pop music.
